Line
There are 3 types of lines which are including “horizontal” (straight and parallel), “dynamic” (angular/curved lines, like diagonal lines or zigzag lines) and “vertical” (up-and-down). Horizontal lines are an expression of weighty, secure, restful or stabilizing, while vertical lines are creating a feeling of lofty, solid, formal, imposing or restrained. Horizontal lines lead the eye downward and visually lower the ceiling in a space to create a sense of intimacy. In Singapore, there are many small space houses. Our interior designers highlight horizontal lines can make a living room appear wider and longer but over horizontal lines in space may become colourless mediocrity. Vertical lines bring the eye level up and appear taller or higher. They give a feeling of strength and nobility and are quite appropriate in church, offices and public meeting and performing spaces. Over vertical lines may cause an unaccustomed atmosphere.
Otherwise, dynamic lines are used for movement, interest, relief and to humanize an interior space, which follows their style, can add a fun, amazing touch to any space when used strategically. They grab people’s eyeballs. Over dynamic lines in one space may cause disorderly.

Space
Space is an essential element in interior design. It may refer to the physical boundaries of a space such as a living room, a bedroom, a kitchen or a bathroom. You can’t decide the dimension of your house unless you hire an architect to build your own house. There are 3-dimensional space in interior design which are length, with and height. Also, space can be seperates into two categories: positive and negative space. Positive spaces are containing objects, whilst negative spaces are the open/empty spaces that including any space between objects.

Light
Light is an indispensable element in interior design. Everthing inside a space does not enlighten without the light, no elements can be demonstrated simply without the light. The content of various types: Task Lighting, Ambient Lighting and Accent Lighting.
Task lights are made with LED (light-emitting diodes) bulbs that are less aggressive to our retinas such as floor, desk and table lamps, bathroom vanity lights, under-cabinet lighting, recessed and track lighting.
Ambient Lighting is the most common types of lighting. Ambient lighting also called mood lighting, because this light captures the soft curves of your face and allows your pupils to dilate slightly. For example, lighting on the ceiling, floor lighting or wall lighting that illuminate the overall space of the dedicated mood.
Accent Lighting use for emphasising objects or a particular area. This type of lighting is creating a point of interest for the viewer. There are several common accent lights: wall lights, wall-mounted picture lights, track lighting and recessed spotlighting.
Form
Form defined as a shape in interior design, as well as any objects in your interior such as furniture and artworks. The similar shape represents a harmony space but too many different forms show a negative result. Albedo Design’s designer will combine a few forms to achieve our client’s desired home, whether that be modern, industry, earthy, warm, cool or whatever our client like.
Pattern
A pattern plays an important role in interior design, which is the intentional repetition of lines, colours or shapes. The pattern can be revealed in a variety of ways, from small objects like cushions, carpet, artwork to larger objects such as sofa, dining table, wardrobe, wine cabinet and so on. The pattern comes with 6 major types: organic, motif, geometric, pictorial, animal prints and stripes. In residential interior design , you may apply a bold statement, dress up windows, carpeting, matching the pattern of your wallpaper, go vintage, use watercolour paints. In commercial interior design , pattern is always using wall coverings, tile, carpeting, and other graphic elements.
Colour
Colour is a powerful tool that affects people’s mood and emotion. Colour is a psychological and also science all on its own. In interior design, colour is a classic way of communication that can express your style and personality and set the colour in each room of your home. Our interior designers’ experts in picking colours for your space (residential and commercial) depends on what kind of atmosphere you want to create. They have extensive knowledge in psychology colour and know and know which colours will help you achieve this.
Texture
Texture describes the visual/ tactile surface quality of an object/ material. Visual texture relates to pattern or colour. It will produce a ploy to distract people’s eye, means that the texture does not generally have the same influence on the touch. In another word, what you feel may not be what you feel. But the tactile texture is a real thing. You may get an actual feeling when you touch the object’s surface. For example, rough, soft, smooth, hard, slimy and sticky. Tactile texture relates to the actual feeling of a surface – smooth, rough, soft, hard, etc. Visual texture is our perception of what a texture might feel like. In other words, we often make assumptions about the texture of a material based on our memory of touching similar surfaces. A harmonious texture conveys style and mood and adds interest and depth to a room.
